We love you all, and here’s our freshest way of showing it.
As part of our continuing goal of working more, working harder, and making lots and lots of friends, Bluemill Media is proud to announce the opening of our Referral Program. Not every job is eligible for the bonus, but most are. To receive a referral bonus, you (and your referred work) must meet these simple requirements.
- You must have registered with us as an Affiliate Partner. To register with us, email affiliates@bluemillmedia.com with the subject line “Referral Program”, and include a brief description of who you are, what you do, what kind of work you may be able to bring in, and how you plan to acquire referrals (a link on your website, local footwork, business cards, etc.)
- The prospect must be serious. If we have to do too much to convince them to use our services after you send them our way, we’ll be suspicious that you’re not being honest with us or our prospects. Simple solution: Only send over potential clients who have the desire to pay the worlds best development team to complete their work for them.
- The jobs’ profit mark ~must~ be above $3,000 for web work, or $500 for print work and general graphic design. We’re used to doing jobs of all sizes and all types, but 5% of anything below this mark typically isn’t enough to seem worth-while for either party. We quote our jobs fairly and hardly ever turn work away, so most of you shouldn’t have a problem meeting this requirement. If you find a small graphic design or print job that you think we would love to do, feel free to send it our way. We’re nice guys and may just cut you a break.
- We have to make money on the deal. Put simply, if we don’t accept the work (for whatever reason) or no transaction takes place, then we can’t pay for the referral (This rarely happens, though).
- Assuming all of the above requirements are met and you qualify for the referral payment, we’ll cut your check once we receive final payment from the client.
In the near future, we’ll be building a few tools to help you find prospects such as affiliate links, referral tracking panels, graphical and flash-based advertisements, and more. Check back often for updates.
Also, as a program launch bonus, we’re offering the opportunity for you to collect on not only the first piece of work we do for your referrals, but all other work that we transact with the client. This part of the deal is only valid for the first 10 referrals, so act fast.
And with that, I’d like to throw a big thank you in the direction of everyone who gets involved. Here’s to success!
(If you have any questions regarding this new program, please relay them to Chris Loeffler (chris.loeffler@bluemillmedia.com) or myself (lorren.biffin@bluemillmedia.com).

As I’m sure most of you know, Bluemill Media is the kind of company that LOVES to work on in-house projects. The freedom is very rewarding, and we’ve come to get used to the flexibility. We spend several hours in a day developing these new innovative products and services, and quite framkly, it’s become our passion. However, in addition to the ammount of time we spend developing in-house, we spend so much more time answering email and working on outside “bill paying” client projects. In fact, at times, it can be very time-consuming and takes our attention away from the projects we pour so much of ourselves into.
We kept thinking, “we have to pay the bills, but we need to get our stuff done too”. So, we think we’ve come up with a wonderful solution: A brand new outsourcing program that we think will answer the prayers of our clients, our developers and our network of outsourcers.
Here is the process we’re looking at:
- Our marketing and PR teams search for jobs and add them to a list of open prospects.
- We contact our outsource developers who we think would be suitable for the job with business requirements and specifications and ask for a quote.
- We return a quote to the prospect (with our commission included) and begin negotiations.
- When we land a job, our team of professionals work out all of the details, draw up all papers and connect you with support team members (if need be). At this point we collect and distribute payment deposits and assets needed to complete the job.
- During project production, our project managers provide support to both the client and you, as well as coordinate the project, acting as a middle man to ensure you can concentrate on delivering a quality product.
- Upon completion, we handle payment collection and distribution.
- Everybody wins.
We know how many designers and developers out there just flat out don’t like to deal with people. We also know how good our people are with that kind of thing.
Ready? Take the plunge:
If you think you’d like to get involved and be a part of the test period for this new program, send an email to jobs@bluemillmedia.com with a current copy of your resume and a link to your portfolio and/or links to related work.

Bluemill Media is a startup design and development agency. We are a small team of motivated professionals building, marketing and managing a suite of web based software productivity applications and web based entertainment services. (We do Client work too, but only because it pays the bills :P)
We are looking for talented, motivated, ‘get-er-done’ types to add to our team of well rounded entrepreneurs. You’ll be working for equity stake in each and every project you touch (which means if we make a million, YOU make a million). We’re on our way up and we want you there with us.
I’ll say it once and once only. ONLY self-motivated, hard working, talent-in-a-box individuals need apply. Once we welcome you to our team and trust you with our projects, you are expected to perform. We won’t hold your hand and we’ll give you your freedom, but we want results. ‘Nuff said.
What exactly are we looking for? You, if you are one (or multiple) of the following:
Note: Jobs that have been crossed out have been filled for the time being. However, if you’re still interested in getting involved, shoot a message over anyhow and we’ll get back to you.
A Flash developer. You should have experience with XML based multimedia applications, full interactive websites and “micro site” type advertisements and ad campaigns.
A Branding expert. No we don’t mean we want you to draw a cool picture that we can put next to our name. We mean we want you to develop and help implement branding concepts that deliver any message we give you in a way that our prospects will remember. We want you to make our faces, and we want them to be pretty.
A Graphic designer. That means all the way from the napkin, to photoshop, to the web (or a brochure, or a business card, or a billboard if that’s your assignment). If you can take a detailed service proposal and turn it into an (x)HTML Strict, validating masterpiece comparable to the Mona Lisa in a time frame that won’t make us ‘wonder’… then you’re this guy.
A Copy Writer. If you have a passion for writing, and could turn our spittle-based, jumble jargon, half-sentences into readable masterpieces, then this is you.
A Marketing genius. If you take it on yourself to figure out the why, and can implement a winning strategy based on that why, we think we’ll like you.
A people person. If you can make our ideas sound as awesome as they really truely are and believe that could sell your old Mac to Steve Jobs, then we want you to know that we could use an enthusiastic PR person. See below.
A Venture Capitalist or Angel Investor. We think we’re pretty good at getting things done quickly. By no means, however, does that mean we skip on the quality. We only work with the best people and hold the highest standard of workmanship. However, as a start-up, there are times when our endeavors are bigger than our pockets. We’d love to hear from you if you’re looking to invest in the “next-big-thing”.
A Design/Development firm. WE LOVE YOU! You’re our cup of tea, and we would love to hear from you if you’re interested in partnering with other firms to develop in-house projects and share in the spoils.
So, if you fit all of the above requirements and would like to chat, I’d like to read your introduction.
If you think you’re who we’re looking for, send an email to lorren@bluemillmedia.com. Include links to your portfolio and code samples, along with a copy of your current resume.
